The Patterned Shorts Suit

This will be the scene.  Bora Bora, summer of 2012, I hop out of the pool to sit on the ledge, glance at my turquoise-faced vintage gold Rolex and smile in anticipation: it’s snack o’ clock.  I button up the matching shirt to my swim trunks, hastily put on my Prorsum Spring 12 raffia shoes, all creased and grimy with sand and sunblock, dump everything into my chalk-white Bottega Cabas, and run to the cabanas.  Mother greets me with a pout.  ”You’re late, you’re in your trunks, and we have guests,” she complains.  I lean over to double-kiss the matrons of honor, and reply with a smile.  ”But Mom, I suited up.”  A boy can dream.

I’m not one to fall in line on the high street at the sound of every designer collaboration, but I really like this patterned ensemble from Marni at H&M.

See you at the lines, I guess.
