Give me a sunny New York day and I’ll show up at McCarren Park in my summer pastels, raffia shoes, and this Dries Van Noten bag for a lazy afternoon of frisbee, or people-watching whilst rolling around the park’s dry, balding lawns. It’s the perfect size for a DSLR, some nibbles, and a flask. It isn’t quite a tote, nor is it a full-fledged briefcase, and the stripes are dyed and textured in a way that’s vaguely basket-like, and somewhat like pieced snakeskin. The bag is ambiguously beautiful.
I like that the handles are adjustable, they can be lengthened enough for the bag to be carried on the shoulder. (I have proportion issues with carrying a bag briefcase-style with my skimpy-loose summer everyday clothes.) I can already smell fresh leather and sun-baked Williamsburger. Summer and Summer Bag, please come to me soon.
