The Jante Law was an absolute favorite of mine at the recently concluded trade shows in New York. Their subversively understated pieces caught my eye last season, and the new season’s offerings conjure up images of a gentleman on summer holiday in idyllic Scandinavia. Bent Van Looy, who also happens to be the lead singer of Ghent-based band Das Pop, was gracious enough to walk me through his line.
My favorite piece would be more apt for a Nordic summer than for one in sweltering New York: a melange sweater with the most graceful of boat necklines.
This lab coat will be great for light showers, or when the weather drops slightly, or for when I'm feeling just a little scientific.
the perfect little cuffed shorts with big pleats
I found this silver-gray silk shirt quite intriguing, with its flat collar, boxy shape, and abbreviated length.
my picks: the short shirt in striped cotton, the boat-neck sweater, and the pleated shorts (photo via The Jante Law)
They are doing two accessories this season as well, a belt and a briefcase.
The handsomely minimal briefcase has a flip top that opens up as if it were magnetic.
