The New Belstaff

The new Belstaff is hyperluxe, with a nod to the its tough biker roots.  Under the helm of new creative director Martin Cooper, the brand now brings forth classically beautiful pieces made richer by a subtle subversiveness.  This is really making me look forward to fall.

My favorites are: this light and luxe quilted belted jacket with contrast-quilt patches, the handsome and heavy Kendal jacket in blistered leather, and the leather Telford biker pants that will keep my legs warm worn with a short heavy wool blazer. Barney’s put together a little breakfast yesterday giving the press a chance to chit-chat with the new creative director and view the clothes up-close.  Martin Cooper tells me his main inspiration was the brand’s rich archive of designs.  I was quite impressed at how he was able to stay true to the brand’s heritage while updating it with subtle modern touches like the use of blistered and sueded leather, and nickel hardware instead of bright brass.

I want that quilted jacket. I think it’ll look flattering despite the fact that it is slightly puffy.

If only men would wear more fashionable clothes like these, this world would be a better place.
